Groups and Workshops

At various times in the year we offer groups and workshops on centering prayer, healing, creativity, the environment, parenting, poetry and spirituality for everyday living.  See Upcoming Offerings for all Bethany events.
Please check back later this summer for additional autumn offerings.

Registration is Now Open for our 2017-2018 Bethany Poets Groups
In Denise Levertov’s beautiful poem, O Taste and See, the poet invites us to “savor, chew, swallow, transform” what we taste on “imagination’s tongue,” a wonderful metaphor for the poem-making process itself! As poets, we take in the world’s everyday mysteries—find correspondences, dream, make new.  Whether you’ve never written a poem or you have a well-established practice of writing, you will find in this monthly circle of ‘practicing poets’ enough quiet, support, and camaraderie to explore poem-making as an act of reverence for the world.  Pre-Registration required.  Two poetry circles, beginning in October (see dates below).  Minimum enrollment (7); maximum enrollment (9). $240.00 for both sessions*

Groups meet on Second Fridays, except where noted (three exceptions through the year)

First Session: 10/13, 11/10, 12/1* (out of sequence), 1-5* (out of sequence); Second Session (continuation): 3/9, 4/13, 5/11, 6/1* (out of sequence)

Morning Group meets 10:30am to 12:30pm

Afternoon Group meets 1:30 to 3:30pm

To register, please print and mail Bethany Poets Registration 2017-2018 or contact the office via email or (781) 648-2433.

On-Going September-Early June:
Awaken to Mystery
: Contemplative Prayer & Reflection

Thursday mornings, 10:00 – 11:30 am in St. Anne’s Chapel.  First gathering for the fall will be September 14.
Is some part of us still like Samuel being wakened in the night? Perhaps to listen anew and more deeply to what is known and not yet known.  What is changing perhaps becoming less important and what is now more essential? What is abundant life for you? This group will begin in contemplative prayer with readings and silence to accompany us in deeper listening and presence with one another and the holy in our lives.  Facilitated shared reflections will follow.  A circle of encouragement for the practice of contemplative prayer.  Newcomers are always welcome.
Each Gathering is led by Bethany House of Prayer Retreat Associates.
